An advisory firm · Est. 2021

Where wealth meets purpose.

Scout Lunar is an advisory firm for Democratic donors who believe their political giving deserves a plan — and that a plan deserves a partner.

We serve families, and the family offices who serve them.

Most political giving is powerful. Most political giving is unguided. The difference between the two is what we do.

Capital that could matter is placed by whoever called first.

A donor rarely sees where their giving landed, or whether a cycle held up to what they had hoped for. Serious people want a serious counterpart to talk to about this, and most do not have one.

Scout Lunar exists because democratic capital is too valuable to squander, and too important to treat casually.

Four practices. One discipline. The rhythm of how we work.

01 / Center

Center.

The donor, not the races.

Values, convictions, time horizon, and privacy. We build the portfolio to the person — not the other way around.

02 / Plan

Plan.

The portfolio, written down.

Federal, state, structural, infrastructure. Balanced, deliberate, documented. You can read it. You can change it. You can share it with your team.

03 / Execute

Execute.

At the right moment, for the right reason.

Every dollar placed for a reason. Every race chosen deliberately. Every outcome named, and not hidden.

04 / Iterate

Iterate.

Cycle after cycle, better each time.

We report back. We learn what worked, and what did not. We do it again — with more evidence, and more care.

A practice across eleven cycles. The names are private. The work is not.

Track record · 2004–present

A practice across eleven cycles.

Between 2009 and 2015, we managed giving for seven American families and organized events for President Obama in three of our clients' homes. Since 2021, under Scout Lunar, we have placed more than eighteen million dollars of Democratic capital with discipline — thirty-eight million across the full arc of the practice, dating to 2004. The names are private. The work is not.

Portfolio redesign · multi-cycle

A portfolio rebuilt, a cycle of real intent.

A family came to us after a cycle of generous giving that had been spread across many races, without a unifying plan. They wanted their capital to reflect their values more plainly — and to do more of what they had hoped for. We rebuilt the portfolio around contested House seats and structural investments. In the two cycles that followed, the family gave less, and meant more.

§04 · For advisors

A partner for the conversations you are not positioned to have.

Your clients are being asked about political giving. We handle those conversations with the seriousness they deserve, and we never compete with the wealth relationship. We are building Scout Lunar alongside family offices and advisors who serve politically engaged Democratic donors. If you have a client who should meet us, we would like to hear from you.
